Few minutes after Adriano said on a press conference that he has not lost the joy of playing football, here I am to talk about the upcoming weekend. Seeming to be honest, Adriano said some important things such as the fact that what happened to him is something that can happen to anyone (who dates a crazy woman – editor’s note) and it took giant dimension only because it’s him and Flamengo. Adriano talked about his weight and said he’s 101Kg and that the ideal weight is 99Kg. C’mon! 101Kg? You gotta be kidding me.

Also, Maldonado won’t play this weekend. Andrande decided to protect the player for the Wednesday match, against La U for the Libertadores. In my opinion, great decision, once we can’t afford losing another defensive midfielder, as even with Willians coming back to face Universidad de Chile, we lost Toró, who got red carded once again on a Libertadores match (only a reminder: as I said, that’s the winning strategy Flamengo found). So, it’s better to save ammunition for the Wednesday then spend it all against Vasco.

Vagner Love is feeling sick and didn’t train today. He has intestinal problems and being someone who has already travelled to Bolivia and Peru I can say he ate something from the streets in Venezuela. That’s a dumb thing to do. Not that I have anything against Venezuela, Peru and Bolivia (the places I’ve been are really beautiful and everybody should know it), but you don’t know where their water came from and water is always a problem. And because of some bad food we’re at risk of losing our best player for the derby.

Anyway… Andrade said he has only one doubt for the game. Pet or Vinicius Pacheco? As he correctly (as usual) said, the first one is experienced and his brain is quicker than his legs (thanks, Matt); the second is young and a match-winner (again. Thanks, Matt). If I had to go, I’d go with Vinicius. You don’t change a team that’s winning, do you?

A victory against Vasco would be great to put all the crisis things behind and show that Flamengo have a squad capable of winning both Libertadores and Carioca.

The greatest thing I saw today is this Kelly Slater pic wearing the manto sagrado.

Did you see that pic of Patricia Amorim giving Adriano a little kiss? That’s the kind of sweet personal touch that’s way beyond what Marcos Braz can do! Hahaha.

Speaking of eating churrasquinho from a street vendor, I remember exiting a Carnaval ball at the Flamengo site, 3 AM, I was starving, and I stopped to buy some kind of meat on a spit. I even told the guy to add more sauce. Thinking back on it, that meat, probably dog meat was screaming SALMONELLA! I was sick for two days and when whatever it was passed my system … well, TMI. Lesson learned. :)

I think Pet should play. He’s back and played very well (better that Pacheco, IMO), put Love and Pacheco face-to-face with the goal, and created the penalty for Flamengo’s first goal. Besides, he can’t play a full 90 anyway, so Pacheco would play. Plus, Pet gets up for the big games.
