What’s going on?
By: André | November 13th, 2008I’m sorry guys. I have not been such a great blogger, but you’ll understand me. University is killing me. Is 4am now here in São Paulo and I just finished doing some work for a subject called something like Organizational Management. Boring…
But let’s talk about Flamengo. The Brazilian League is amazing. There is no other league like ours. With 4 games left we have São Paulo, Grêmio, Cruzeiro, Palmeiras and Flamengo with 65, 63, 61, 61 and 60 points each. Four of them will go to Libertadores da América and they all have their motivations to win the title.
Since now, we had 5 different leaders. That is something unbelievable.
São Paulo may become the first six times and three in a row champion team ever. Cruzeiro can win their second national title and left their major rivals, Atlético-MG, behind with only one title. Grêmio can won the league after 12 years, as well as Palmeiras who is willing to win after 14 years, and Flamengo who became champions for the last time on 1992 and wants to become the first six time champions.
Flamengo will face Palmeiras next Sunday at Maracanã. Some say that the loser will get out of the running for Libertadores and for the title. I doubt it. I’ve seen Flamengo with a 13 points advantage over the second place team and now we are 5th. I’ve seen Palmeiras leading three games away from now and giving up the fight for the title on the last row.
What I really expect to see is Flamengo winning all the four left matches so we still have the chance to win our 6th title. Beating Palmeiras (h), Cruzeiro (a), Goiás (h) and Atlético-PR (a) we not only will go to Libertadores as will have great chances to be known as the 2008 Brazilian League Champions.
