Finally!!
By: André | February 6th, 2009Finally a great match. After 3 not so convincing victories, last Wednesday Flamengo beat Mesquita (4 – 1) at Maracanã.
Zé Roberto made his first game and scored on his debut, opening the score. Right after our goal, Mesquita scored too and the teams went to their locker rooms with a tied match (1 – 1). The supporters weren’t approving the way Flamengo was playing and from the television we could hear some fans booing the team.
After the break Flamengo came better to the field with Everton, who scored our second goal, substituting Egídio on the left wing and I do not remember of any moment that Mesquita threatened Bruno.
After Everton scored, Flamengo played even better and Cuca made the right changes. Marcelinho Paraíba and Zé Roberto gave their places to Jonatas and Maxi. And just like happened to Everton, Jonatas scored the third goal.
And when I thought it was finished, Bruno (that’s right, the goalkeeper) scored a beautiful goal from a foul near the penalty area (4 – 1).
I think what made Flamengo play so well was Ibson’s positioning. He always plays better coming from behind and not as the man capable of assisting the strikers, and having Airton and Willians playing, Ibson can play freely, not marking all the time, but giving the first quality touch on the midfield.
Now we only need a striker that scores since Obina has not scored yet this year and even Josiel that had never scored playing for Flamengo has already scored this year.
Now we are leading Group B.
