Fla-09

By: André | January 11th, 2009

A new year but the same problem we have seen for the last 20 years: money. We don’t have money to pay the players, the coaches and all the other people that work on the club.

At least I can say this year the board made something I had never seen here. The team is almost the same that finished playing the League last year. Few changes, including Diego Tardelli, Luizinho, Dininho, Leonardo, Fernandão, Jaílton, Fernando e Caio Jr leaving the club, and Dieguinho, Douglas, Williams and Cuca joining us. Some other players came back from loans, but most of them already left the club once again. Some say Vandinho, Leo Moura, Bruno and Juan can leave the team by the end of this month and Mota and Zé Roberto can join us as well.

I think everybody agrees that Cuca is better than Caio Jr as a coach, but once again we have a coach that have never won a title. You can say that Cuca already won Taça Rio, but even agreeing with those who say Rio State Championship is great, I don’t think Taça Rio or Guanabara can be consider as championships. I believe him because year after year he coaches terrible teams and show some quality. Now, coaching Flamengo that mantained tha bases from the last year and is definitely bigger then your rivals, he has the chance to prove he has quality and winner luck.

Tardelli is the only loss I complain. He shows his skills on important games just like during 2008 Rio State Championship, when he scored the winning goal on loss time and we won Taça Guanabara.

The players that are training at Granja Comary are:

GK

Bruno
Diego
Marcelo Lomba
Paulo Victor

FB

Leo Moura
Juan
Egídio

CD

Douglas
Ronaldo Angelim
Thiago Sales
Fábio Luciano
Fabrício

DM

Toró
Jonatas
Williams
Airton
Antônio

M

Erick Flores
Kléberson
Sambueza
Ibson
Fierro
Éverton
Marcelinho Paraíba

ST

Vandinho
Obina
Maxi
Paulo Sérgio
Josiel
Kayke

Plínio Serpa, momentarily substituting Kléber Leite as Football Vice President, said that he and the other board men are working to bring Zé Roberto and Mota this week. They are planning to present Zé Roberto on Tuesday, announcing the signings tomorrow (Monday). They are two really good players.

Now I can only say that Flamengo continued to the second fase of Copa São Paulo de Futebol Junior, a traditional brazilian U18 championship, without losing any game and showing us some promisses just like Jórbison and Vinícius Paquetá.

Things are calm while we are training at Granja Comary, Brazilian Squad training field, and knowing Flamengo I can say that calm things are never good. The calm always become past after some bombastic news.

Lets wait for January 25th at 5pm and see what we can expect for the rest of the year.
