One million and growing
By: André | July 27th, 2008
We are the first Brazilian team to reach 1.000.000 supporters playing at home this year. In 30 games, 1.051.360 fans went to Maracanã only to watch Flamengo playing. Considering Brazilian numbers, this is a lot of people. Is is 35.045 persons watching Flamengo play on each game.
To make it easy to compare, last year Flamengo reached 1.000.000 supporters only on September 29th when the team played against Atlético-MG for the 28th Brazilian League row. On 2008, the number was reached on July 13th on a victory against one of our major rivals, Vasco (3×1), playing for the 11th row.
We have 13 home games until the end of the season and with our Brazilian League supporters’ average number at home (42.356 supporters per match), the number will increase and may reach at least 1.601.988 supporters at Maracanã.

Obviously this number tends to be higher, once we and 2nd on National League and fighting for the title. I bet we can reach 2 millions. Flamengo needs its fans and we now we make the team almost unbeateable at home.

André – I wanted to check with you and see how Diego Tardelli and Paulo Sérgio are doing? Both players have a great deal of promise and of course it is a tough lineup for younger players -
